The Plot Against Asthma and Allergy Patients: Asthma, Allergies, Migraine, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are Curable, but the Cure is Hidden from the Patients.

Natural Asthma Cure

What Nature Has Provided To Cure Your Asthma?

The development of natural asthma cure has lately been more and more increasing. If the conventional asthma medication is focusing to cure the asthma symptoms, natural asthma cure is dedicated to treat the cause of asthma, as well as to enhance the patient’s body to cure the disease by itself.

Although both medications are different, however many of ingredients in natural asthma cure have the similar or the same methods as in conventional medication. Therefore, you must consult with your doctor before choosing a natural cure, to avoid overdose and contra-indication or neutralization of the conventional medication.

The range of natural cure for asthma is varied from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to Ayurveda. And when the natural healing is modernized, it is now called naturopathy. Naturopathy is an alternative medication to the conventional ones, but can also be functioned as complementary to conventional asthma medication, which emphasizes the body’s intrinsic ability to heal and maintain itself.

Naturopathy was actually developed in US almost a hundred years ago by Benjamin Lust. However, the pharmaceutical industries had slowly replaced it with the promises of more effective medicines, without realizing the long term side effects of antibiotics. After people become more concern about health and healthcare cost, naturopathy has been famous again lately.

Asthma Management

Take Control Of Your Asthma With Three Lines Asthma Defense Strategy.

In the past, many asthma patients, and parents who have asthmatic children seem to ’accept’ their asthma condition. Wheezing at nights, or coughing in the middle of activities is something common in their daily life. And all their family or friends have been familiar with it. When children with asthma go to school, they can only watch when their friends were playing or having physical activities. Their teachers and friends perhaps treat the asthmatic children in over-caring ways, that makes these children felt lonely and avoided by the community.

This kind of child, or adult usually do not have a potential performance at school or at work. They grew up with a guilty feeling of having such a disease called asthma.

In the end of 1980s, an allergy consultant namely Guillermo Mendoza, M.D. tried to break that old concept. He insisted that asthma can be controlled. With the right treatment, the frequency of hospitalizing for asthma patient can be reduced. The key of asthma management is the patient himself.

People who suffer from asthma must change their mastermind and understanding of the disease, and the way to treat it. In the past, people saw asthma as a bunch of symptoms. And when they got it worsen, they took asthma medication to cure it. When the medication worked, and the symptoms had gone, they will think that they have cured from asthma and stopped the drugs. Just like treating other diseases like influenza.

My mother used to tell me story about my late aunty, who I have never seen in my life. She had suffered from asthma since baby, and had already suffered a lot of asthma attacks until she passed away on her 24th of age. During her life, difficult breathing seemed to be one of her daily routines. She couldn’t play with her friends, and she lost the opportunity to enjoy her teenage life. By the time she passed away, she nearly did not have any friends. ALL of that is because people have not learned about the right asthma management. Instead of curing the attacks and getting panic on every crisis, we should find ways to prevent the asthma attack.

Dr. Harold J. Farber, M.D. offered a new concept of asthma management. In this new concept, the asthma patient himself has the strongest involvement in treating and managing his asthma. The doctors will participate only as a consultant.

What are the main problems of asthma ?

Closest family member, parents, and closest friends are those people that are mostly made stressed over treating an asthma patient. Let’s break the problems down.

  • There are many kinds of asthma medicines with difficult names to remember.
  • Instructions of which medicines must be taken in what condition, and for how many doses.
  • Many allergen or asthma trigger to be avoided.
  • Family medical cost will get higher.
  • Physically and mentally exhausted from emergency conditions.
  • The house must be re-organized to get a clean and dry environment.
  • If the patient is a child, more things must be arranged with the school.
  • Many absence problems, with more in performance decreasing, etc…

Thanks to Dr. Farber, we don’t have to get more headache due to asthma, as he has guided us to a conclusion, that the single key of the most effective asthma management is very simple: It is better to PREVENT all those problems asthma can cause NOW, than to face it in the future!

Three Lines Asthma Defense Strategy:

#1 – Managing the environment

The goal of managing environment is to provide a defense system against irritant and allergen, which can trigger reaction on the airways surface, that will lead to asthma.

Managing the environment is, in fact, the most powerful and reasonable strategy in the efforts of controlling asthma. By providing a clean and healthy environment for people with asthma;

  • They can have a natural-drug-free way to treat your asthma.
  • They won’t be bothered by any side effects of conventional medicines.
  • All the other members of the family can also take advantage from the healthy home environment.

There are two big challenges to this strategy, though…

First, how to persuade all members of the family to change their lifestyle. The most common example is to totally diminish cigarette smoke from the house. It can only happen if everybody (including the guests) stop smoking in and around the house (yes, not even on the porch or in the garden!). Another example is to clean up all rooms in the house from piles of old newspapers, and fabric-covered sofas.

Second, when you have committed to implement a new healthier habits, you will still have to adapt to this new lifestyle. And that takes time!

Those might seem hard to take, however if you do love and care for your family who has asthma, your commitment and efforts will give them a huge help to finally have a better life. If you still feel it’s nearly impossible to do, these books will give you guidance and tips for managing a good environment for asthma patients.

#2 – Managing the airways

The second defense strategy in asthma management is managing the airways to make it less sensitive. In asthma medication, you can find a large choice of anti-inflammatory drugs category. These medicines blockage inflammatory in the airways, which trigger asthma attack. Functioning as an asthma preventer or a long acting controller, anti-inflammatory drugs are created for daily use, to maintain airways always in normal condition.

However, many asthma patient think that these anti-inflammatory drugs can work as fast as reliever drugs. Wrong! Most anti-inflammatory drugs need 1 to 2 weeks before we can see the improvement, and will show the optimum results after 1 to 2 months. Meaning that only after that period of time, the airways will be back in normal condition, just like before asthma attack.

The biggest challenge in managing the airways strategy, is to persuade asthma patient to consistently use their anti-inflammatory drugs, and put the drugs in their asthma diary.

Why is that difficult?

Because when these drugs works, patient do not feel any change or effect in their condition. They feel as normal and as healthy as anybody else. This is where the problem will arise. They will feel comfortable enough to start ignoring their attention to their own disease. Most of the patients, either feeling sick of taking drugs, or forgetting more and more to finally stop the medication. It continuously happen until…they get another asthma attack.

This is where family support helps a lot. But to get there, the asthma patients, as well as their family should learn well about asthma.

If you do not prefer having clinical medication, you can try natural remedies for managing your airways.

#3 – Managing the Flares-Up

The third and final defense strategy of asthma management is noticing the asthma flares up as early as possible, and taking the aggressive action to prevent asthma from getting worsen.

Every asthma patient and their family must learn how to use asthma action plan, to help them keeping record of asthma diagnosis such as peak flow meter. This strategy needs your intense observation of the earliest signs of asthma such as coughing, itchy throat or difficult breathing. By managing it, the flares-up can be controlled, and asthma reliever could work more effectively if taken earlier.

And at the end, implementing three lines of asthma defense strategy in the asthma management will help asthma patient to have a normal and better life.

Asthma Maintained With Ventolin Inhaler

A ventolin inhaler is classified as an albuterol inhaler. Asthma prevents a person from comfortably breathing and causes dizziness, shortness of breath and other symptoms. There are various levels of asthma, as some patients experience minimal symptoms throughout their lifetime while others find the breathing condition debilitating for certain activities, such as sports or anything physically extraneous. A ventolin inhaler is prescribed to prevent asthma attacks prompted by physical activity.

How Often Do I Take My Ventolin Inhaler?

Speak with your doctor about your exact dosage of ventolin inhaler. The typical doses are as follows:

  • 1-2 inhalations every 4-6 hours.
  • 2 inhalations 15 minutes before exercising.

Because ventolin inhalers are most often prescribed to those who suffer from exercise-induced asthma symptoms, the doses above tend to be the most common. A patient should carefully monitor their breathing and their exercise routine when beginning to take the ventolin inhaler.

Some of the side effects of using a ventolin inhaler include:

  • Tremors
  • Increased heart rate.
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Shock.
  • Worsening diabetes (though ventolin inhalers show now sign of causing diabetes).

All of these side effects should be sporadic. If they are happening more often, it is vital for the patient to contact their medical professional right away. Never overuse a ventolin inhaler or any other type of asthma inhaler, since doing so can actually make your asthma symptoms worse.

Do I Have Asthma?

Those who think they may have asthma should contact their doctor. Signs of asthma include excessive coughing, shortness of breath and wheezing. These symptoms may be experienced on their own or as a result of mild physical activity. Often people discount their asthma symptoms as something that may pass, but if you are experiencing these symptoms for over a month, it is time to contact a medical professional.

Asthma Allergy

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic disease which is non-curable, and which affects the respiratory system of the body. With asthma, what happens is that the airways constrict and become inflamed, and are then lined with excessive amounts of mucous, which is in response usually to triggers, which are factors that irritate or even cause an asthma attack. Triggers can include anything from cold weather, weather changes, stress, emotional anxiety, pet dander, even chalk dust.

In other words, asthma is a recurring inflammatory conditioned disease which causes the airways to develop increased responsiveness to various stimuli, and is a disease which is primarily characterized by that of inflammation, increased mucous production, intermittent airway obstruction, and bronchial hyper-responsiveness.

What is an Asthma Allergy?

It is considered that an asthma allergy – as well as allergies and asthma separately – is the most prevalent of all chronic diseases, and that it affects millions of people every day. An asthma allergy basically consists of anything that causes or triggers that of an asthma attack, and it is incredibly important for all asthmatics to understand and determine what their own personal triggers are, or what their primary asthma allergy is. As well, the specific type of medical treatment which is recommended to a patient will depend on the severity of their condition, and the most common types of treatments for asthma are broadly classified as relievers, preventers, and emergency treatment.

How can an Asthma Allergy be Treated?

Again, the most effective and positive type of treatment for any type of asthma trigger or allergy is that of prevention. In other words, if you are an asthmatic, especially if your condition is severe, you must recognize and determine the factors that trigger attacks with your asthma, and then try to avoid these factors as much as possible, or desensitize yourself completely, if possible. If there is no way that you can do either of these recommendations, say you have a pet that is affecting your asthma but you don’ t want to get rid of it, then the best idea is to consult your physician and ask them what you should do about the situation.

There are however also forms of relief medication available, and typically every asthmatic is required to take some form of medication on a frequent basis, even if they do not experience attacks all that often.

Adult Asthma: Takes Some Getting Used To

Asthma is a disease of the respiratory system that causes the airways to constrict and close up. The result is that the person suffering from asthma can’t breathe. Asthma can be very serious if not monitored and certain precautions aren’t taken. Usually, if a person has asthma, they are diagnosed as children. By following precautions early in life, they become less cumbersome and, thus, are easily followed in adulthood. However, when adult asthma occurs, it can take a lot of getting used to.

Some people suffer from adult asthma who didn’t have asthma as a child. This can be caused for a variety of reasons, such as certain allergies. If a person is diagnosed with adult asthma, they must take certain precautions they never had to deal with growing up. The old saying you can’ t teach old dogs new tricks must not apply. You must follow these precautions or else your adult asthma can seriously harm you or take your life. The precautions depend on what kind of adult asthma you suffer from.

Consult Your Doctor

To determine what kind of adult asthma you suffer from, you’ll want to make an appointment with your doctor. Your doctor will be able to tell you, after performing a series of tests, what kind of asthma you have as well as what activities or things to avoid. For instance, if your adult asthma is caused by an allergy to pollen, you’ll want to stay away from areas with a high concentration of pollen. Your doctor will also prescribe you medicine, usually in the form of an inhaler.

Adult asthma doesn’t mean your life is over. Adult asthma can be serious and it can, in fact, be life threatening if certain precautions aren’t taken. It may take some getting used to but by making a small, conscious effort, you can do what you need to do in order to prevent asthma from controlling your life.

Even if you weren’t asthmatic as a child, if you have adult asthma, you can live a long, normal life, you’ll just have to make small changes to your everyday life. Stay away from those activities or things that cause your asthma and listen to your doctor. If your doctor prescribes medicine, take your medicine. If your doctor gives you an inhaler, make sure you have your inhaler with you at all times. You’ll get used to it in no time at all and your adult asthma will be something you can put in the back of your mind. Control your asthma; don’t let asthma control you.

Asthma In Children Can Make Parents Feel Helpless

A lot of things in life don’t seem fair and asthma in children is one of them. As a parent, it’s so difficult to watch your little one cough and wheeze and hope that his medication will take effect right this minute so he can breathe normally again.

The prevalence of asthma in children is growing and represents the most common respiratory disorder in childhood. Approximately 7-10% of all children have asthma and asthma accounts for about 25% of all school absences.(1) So, though it’s hardly a consolation, you and your child are not alone.

Asthma in children can be much more difficult to manage for many reasons. First, it can be difficult to obtain a solid diagnosis. Children have so many upper respiratory symptoms that asthmatic symptoms may be lost in the onslaught of respiratory problems. If you believe that your child is getting too many colds or that his colds produce symptoms that are similar to asthma such as wheezing, chest tightness and shortness of breath, encourage your family physician to perform a diagnostic workup for asthma and/or bring your child to a pediatric pulmonologist or allergist for evaluation. It is very important to obtain a solid diagnosis and then work out an effective treatment plan.

Asthma in children can usually be treated effectively but it may take some work to determine the right combination of medications for your child’s situation. You must be an excellent observer of your child’s symptoms and his response to the treatment plan. Your child’s physician will rely on your ability to accurately report your child’s problems and responses in order to make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.

One of the rarely admitted but hard parts about dealing with asthma in children is the notion of “medication regime fatigue”. Your child’s treatment plan will likely include some maintenance medications or treatments such as daily nebulizer treatments with an inhaled steroid. Most people find it really hard to keep up these regimens when their child is healthy and there are so many other daily pressures. You owe it to your child to learn enough about asthma to understand that you can prevent many of the acute asthma attacks by remaining committed to the maintenance regime, inconvenient as it can sometimes be. You need to be his role model for incorporating these routines as normally as possible.

Even though asthma in children is very common, many schools make the mistake of either over-protecting children and not allowing them the pleasure of recess and vigorous activity or not taking asthma seriously enough. Be sure that your child’s teacher and the school nurse are very familiar with your child’s situation and needs.

How To Live Normally With Asthma?

This is probably a question many people has been asking for a long time. Yes, in the past, asthma was one of the most dangerous diseases that can lead to death. My late aunty suffered from asthma for almost her entire life, and she finally given away her young ages when she passed away at her seventeen years of age. However, now science has been growing, and with a good asthma management, everyone with asthma can enjoy their life normally.

These are several WRONG MYTHS that you must learn about asthma…

Asthma patient can’t have physical activities

This is the most myths that many asthma patient or parents with asthmatic children believe. The truth is, not only that they CAN do normal activities, but asthmatic people should also participate in sports, dancing or fitness more actively. As long as you control your asthma, you can do any activities just like non asthmatic people.

Death risk of asthma

Again, asthma can lead a patient to death, however the case is very rare nowadays. Therefore, you must not worry about patient’s health. You don’t have to be over-protective about your children. Stress and panics will block your focus to proactive steps to treat asthma. When treated well, asthma won’t turn into a dangerous condition.

Once cured, asthma won’t attack again

After having hospitalized after an asthma attack, a patient might think that he is now healthy and strong, and he won’t need his medication anymore, as his asthma will never attack again. This is wrong! Asthma is a chronic disease, and airways infection can happen anytime. It is very important to keep controlling the health condition related to asthma. You can do it with an asthma diary. By having a thorough control, you can avoid another hard asthma attack in the future.

Asthma is caused by stress and high emotion level

Asthma is a disease that affected your lungs, because of an airways inflammation and broncho-constriction. It’s not caused by stress, however stress and emotion can trigger your asthma or even worsen it. When you get stressed about your children’s health, they will also get stressed, said a research. Something relaxing is good for this condition, however please remember that relaxation only reduces stress, it does not cure the airways inflammation.

By understanding more about asthma, we can manage our health, and have a normal life with asthma.

Can Healthy Living Prevent You From Asthma?

Every parents must want to prevent their children from any diseases, including asthma. What will they do? Creating and maintaining a healthy and clean living environment are probably the most things that make sense. But the questions is, does healthy living really block our children from asthma exposure?

A research has been conducted in some small villages in China and Africa. For comparison, the same research has been done in Australia and New Zealand, which have the lowest level of pollution in the world. The researches had found that in rural district of China and Africa where allergen that cause asthma like smoke, dust, pets dander, and pollution can be found everywhere, the number of asthma patient is almost zero. On the contrary, the asthma patient number in Australia and New Zealand are the highest in the world!

From the researches, we can learn that modern lifestyle can apparently affect the exposure of asthma. These are probably the reasons.

Modern house structure

Many of modern people in modern cities use a new insulation system for their houses. Although the system can effectively reduce energy wasting, it also build a kind of ‘fortress’ around the house. The result ? The inhabitant of the houses might get more exposed to allergen that came from the inside of the house, such as dust mites, cockroach, smoke (from cigarette or cooking), or pets dander.

Chemical substances

Modern lifestyle also uses more and more chemical substance, either for the house construction, or for household. The uses of paints, mosquito repellent, air freshener, etc has been our daily needs, without ever considering the bad effect to our family’s health.

Excess immune system

Modern people has more concerns to a healthy living idea. We all spend a lot of money to keep our house and household perfectly clean and sterilized. But…maybe it becomes TOO clean..?

As we have learned, that asthma is actually a response of immune system that works over-reactively. A study has revealed that in order to make our immune system work effectively, it must be ‘triggered’ or ‘provocated’ when we were little child. It means that our children should, in certain level, get exposed to some allergen or infection, to ‘launch’ their mechanism of immune system, as earlier as possible.

A study conducted in Tucson, Arizona, showed that children who often get flu or get more exposure when they play or communicate with other children, had lower risk of getting asthma when they grow up. It is also believed that children who live in a house with pets, have a lower risk of getting asthma.

So, does it mean we have to let our house dirty, and let the children play with pets freely? The most important thing is to keep our living environment balanced for children. We can, for example, let our children play on the outbound with their friends. Don’t keep them staying in the house all the time. Or, take a family picnic in the park sometimes. You can also introduce the children to outbound sports like tennis, swimming or just a routine jogging around the block of your house. If they meet with a dog or cat on the street, let them touch the animals, and play for a while with them. And don’t forget to teach them to clean themselves after going back to the house.

However, if the children have already suffered from asthma, strict rules to avoid the allergen and other asthma triggers, to live cleanly and healthy, must be obeyed!

Remember the golden rule:

“Prevent asthma when you can prevent it, but treat asthma accordingly to give the patient an opportunity to live a normal and happy life”!
